Waterways I was created in 2019 as a triptic inspired by the waterways of the Allagash River tributary located in Northern Maine.
Drawing inspiration from a three day canoe trip along the waterways, Jessica mimics the turbulent flow of the water during a late afternoon storm and the reflections of colors seen from the boat along the shoreline.
The abstract imagery is then coupled with written text from later research on the regions rich history of logging and the method of using the waterways to transport timbers to various regions across the state for further processing. For more history on this opperation, visit Maine.gov.
